The Integrated Bachelors/Master’s Program in History is an accelerated program that offers the opportunity for highly advanced students enrolled in the ASU History B.A. program to obtain both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in History within five years. The program allows students to take 500-level coursework during the final year of the B.A. program and share 9 credit hours of these courses toward the requirements of the M.A. program.  It may also be possible to transfer 3 credit hours of 400-level coursework to the M.A. as well.

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • are currently enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts History B.A.
  • have completed 75 semester hours or more of coursework toward the B.A.
  • have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.3 or better.

In order to apply, you must complete the steps below in the following order:

  1. Meet with your undergraduate advisor to confirm your eligibility for the program. You and your advisor will review your progress towards your undergraduate degree and make sure that you will be able to complete the B.A. requirements in a timely fashion. At that meeting, an initial timeline for both your undergraduate coursework and your graduate coursework will be put together.
  2. Meet with the Graduate Programs Coordinator, Roxanne Shand (Roxanne.Shand@asu.edu). She will review your proposed timeline and discuss your areas of interest and whether the M.A. program is a good fit for you.
  3. Complete a Graduate Education application for the M.A degree in History to begin the semester following your undergraduate graduation. For the accelerated BA/MA, you do not need to take the Graduate Record Exam

The current deadline for applying is April 15, to begin the program the following fall (your senior year).
