You’re also supporting a top-ranked research university that’s committed to finding solutions to some of our most pressing concerns. From scholarship support to funding for a specific research cause, your generosity and continued investment impact our community profoundly.

Whether you’re donating a couple of dollars or a large sum, your gift is greatly appreciated. Any amount makes a difference for our students, faculty, staff, research and programs. Your charitable contributions enable our school to achieve the highest standards of excellence, access and impact.

Giving to the funds below allows the school to offer incoming students scholarships to major in history, philosophy and religious studies. In addition to helping a student afford university, the scholarships are important recruitment tools that help bring more people into the study of history, philosophy and religious studies, attract high-quality students and keep the degrees healthy.

Introducing the Laura Harris Hales Graduate Student Research Scholarship

Laura Harris Hales was a Sun Devil, having earned her second master’s degree from SHPRS in 2020. Though Laura Hales passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2022, her fervor for history and trailblazing methodology left a mark on many of the listeners of her podcast Latter-Day Saints Perspectives – so memorable, in fact, that a newly endowed scholarship has been founded in her name by donors who treasured her work, yet wish to remain anonymous.

The Laura Harris Hales Graduate Student Research Scholarship will offer funding to online master's students in history seeking to pursue research and professional development opportunities they may otherwise be unable to due to financial constraints.

Give now

You can make a difference in a student's life.

Gifts like these improve the student community in a number of ways, but they affect each person differently depending on that person’s specific circumstances and goals. In my case, I view the Friends of Philosophy Scholarship as enhancing both my education and my credentials.
