DIRECTOR, School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies, ASU at Tempe campus
The School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) on the Tempe campus of Arizona State University, invites applications for School Director. The successful applicant will be expected to provide vision, leadership and management for the School; contribute to the School’s interdisciplinary teaching and research missions; and to engage in research and teaching that complement and strengthen one or more of the following areas: history, philosophy, or religious studies.
The School Director is responsible for overall leadership of SHPRS, and for representing SHPRS to CLAS, the University, and external constituents. He or she will report to and work with the Dean of Humanities of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to achieve university academic goals for excellence in research and learning, and to further goals for inclusion and impact. Responsibilities include budget, planning, development, personnel recommendations and decisions as may be appropriate, student academic affairs, faculty development, promotion of research, and planning and implementation of degree programs.
In addition to being a full professor in one of the three disciplines, candidates must have demonstrated a) successful record of administrative experience; b) an ongoing program of research and publication; c) a record of successful teaching; and d) evidence of ability to contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations in research and teaching. Desired qualifications are: a) history of successful extramural funding; and b) successful leadership experience in an interdisciplinary program.
