The mission of academic advising at ASU is to further the teaching mission of the university by providing quality, accessible advising to all students.
Academic advisors help students successfully transition to the university and make progress towards their educational goals and graduation. Advisors are part of the educational process, providing academic information and guidance to help students understand curricula, policies, and procedures. Academic advising is a collaborative teaching relationship among academic advisors, students, faculty and the university community. Working with advisors, students identify academic and career goals, create and implement plans, and assume responsibility for their education.
The School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies (SHPRS) is committed to your success as a student at ASU and beyond. Our advisors look forward to meeting you and helping you navigate through your academic program.
"As I sat through my first-ever college course at ASU, I noticed that my introductory class was larger than the entirety of my high school. You can imagine how nervous I was for this new and radically different experience! However, my fears were immediately put to rest when I met my advisor for the first time. He quickly welcomed me and explained to me that the SHPRS advising team had a goal of providing encouragement, support, and a family-like atmosphere to help me achieve the highest form of success at the largest university in the nation. After graduation, I realized that my advisor was an integral part of my success. He was more than a mentor and advisor...he was an encourager and friend. I'll always be grateful for my amazing experience within the SHPRS community at ASU."
